CRAFT Bangkok

TL;DR: Quality beers, quality burgers and quality atmosphere

CRAFT on Soi 23 is doing it right.

Their business model is simple and obvious – beers and burgers in a lively garden setting.

What sets them apart is their focus on quality products and knowledgeable service.

The Asok branch of CRAFT aren’t serving up your usual pints of Singha and Chang, you see – they have 40 beers on tap and another 50 bottle variations too, making it one of the largest tap-houses in the Southeast Asia region. New and interesting craft brews are continually introduced on a monthly rotation, tapping into the novelty factor that Bangkokians crave.

It’s clear that this beer garden loves its brews.

What’s better is that they want you, the customer, to love it too. The international bar staff are friendly and plugged in when it comes to the extensive collection of beers on offer, able to throw the curious a few recommendations based on their flavour preferences.

After settling into a corner table on a nicely buzzing Friday night, we decided to go full throttle and ordered ourselves a selection of crisp amber ales, hoppy pale ales and a few porters and stouts from international breweries like Mikkeller, Evil Twin and Deutsches.

We’d love to walk you through the intricate flavour profiles of each brew but, to be frank, the relatively high alcohol content rather put paid to any detailed note-taking we were prepared to make.

Suffice to say, it’s clear that CRAFT choose their brews carefully with each beer offering something unique in terms of consistency or flavour.

Experimentation is the name of the game here – go crazy and try something new!

In an inspired collaboration, CRAFT’s other main attraction is burgers, provided by the famously popular Daniel Thaiger burger van which is in situ Tuesday to Sunday.

We plumped for the classic Thaiger Burger and the Mr Steve Burger – fat hunks of succulent beef burger drenched in secret Thaiger sauce in a naughtily greasy bun. Fresh salad and grilled onions complete the Thaiger while the Mr Steve is also stuffed with crispy bacon and cheddar cheese.

Entertainment in the beer garden is also on point with regular DJ sets and live music weekly, contributing to a quietly buzzing atmosphere.

Essentially, CRAFT is a great spot to hang out and catch up with friends over interesting drinks and dirty burgers.

It’s one of those places where you pop in for a quickie on a Saturday afternoon but end up stumbling out four hours later with your shirt covered in Thaiger sauce stains (we couldn’t possibly comment, of course…).
