The 4 Best Halal Hotels In Bangkok

Bangkok is an incredible city to visit, regardless of your race or religion.

If you’re a Muslim tourist looking for welcoming accommodation that can provide for your specific needs, it can be overwhelming to sort through the hundreds of hotels on offer in the City of Angels.

But fear not, we’ve been researching where to find the best halal hotel in Bangkok and have found four exceptional halal-friendly establishments.

By ‘halal-friendly’, we mean offering up halal-certified cuisine and being nearby local Muslim communities and mosques.

While plenty of Bangkok hotels will be able to provide halal cuisines for guests who ask, we’ve listed only the hotels that have halal food options as standard. They’re high quality in other respects too: excellent facilities, a wide range of room choices, reasonably priced and in a good location.

There’s one clear stand-out when it comes to Bangkok halal hotels, but there are three more deserving of an honourable mention too.

The Best Halal Hotel In Bangkok…

Al Meroz Hotel

The leading — and recently opened — halal hotel in Bangkok is undoubtedly the Al Meroz.

They are the one hotel to specifically market themselves as a ‘halal hotel’ so are incredibly well set up to welcome and cater to Muslim guests.

It’s a 4* hotel offering a range of accommodation:

  • Superior rooms
  • Deluxe Rooms
  • Suites

They have two in-house restaurants: Barakat (Mediterranean) and Diwan (all-day family dining).

All cuisine is Halal-certified and all staff are trained to observe and provide the Halal lifestyle to guests throughout the hotel. They also have 24-hour room service. The restaurants do not serve alcohol.

In terms of leisure, they rank alongside other similarly starred Bangkok hotels with a rooftop swimming pool and a large gym.

Further cementing their Halal certification, Al Meroz provide exclusive access to the pool and gym for female guests in the morning and men after midday.

One thing to consider with Al Meroz is the location.

It’s in the Ramkhamhaeng neighbourhood of Bangkok, which is admittedly not central. They are nearby the Ramkhamhaeng Station on the Airport Rail Link, however, which will take you into central Bangkok in minutes.

There’s a shuttle service provided by the hotel that will take you to the station, to the Central Plaza Rama 9 MRT station, and to Emquartier shopping mall in Phrom Phong.

While it’s not the most centrally located halal hotel, Al Meroz‘s location does come with a number of positives for Muslim guests: it’s close to the Foundation of Islamic Centre of Thailand and various other mosques.

One vlogger has done a quick YouTube tour of the hotel, which should give you some idea of what it’s like to stay there. Check it out:

Grand Sukhumvit Hotel

Right in the heart of the city, the Grand Sukhumvit is a very popular and luxurious halal hotel in Bangkok.

While not geared up quite so exclusively to Muslim guests as the Al Meroz, it’s nonetheless a great pick for those after a halal-friendly atmosphere in the vibrant Arab quarter of Bangkok.

It’s home to one restaurant and a delicatessen, which offer Arabic food cooked with halal-certified ingredients. This food is also available via room service.

There are also three bars so this isn’t dry like the Al Meroz.

Managed by Accor, the Grand Sukhumvit offers an array of luxury accommodation, including:

  • Deluxe rooms
  • Deluxe suites
  • Executive 1-bed apartment
  • 2-bed apartment
  • 3-bed apartment

You have a choice of either a non-smoking or a smoking room.

Facilities include a gym, swimming pool, spa, sauna and jacuzzi (although note that these do not have any gender restrictions like the Al Meroz).

The Chairman Suite

One of the best things about this Bangkok halal hotel is undoubtedly the location. Found on Sukhumvit Soi 6, the Grand Sukhumvit is in the heart of the Nana neighbourhood and mere steps away from the so-called ‘Soi Arab’ (Sukhumvit Soi 3/1), which is full to bursting with halal restaurants, street food and Bangkok’s Arab community.

It’s also within walking distance of the BTS sky train, which can take you all over the city, and very close by to the nightlife and adult entertainment zones.

Nouvo City Hotel

The Nouvo City Hotel is another 4* halal hotel in Bangkok, this time located near the backpacker nirvana of the Khao San Road and the cultural delights of the old city.

It’s home to two restaurants: the Canal Restaurant, offering a 100% halal breakfast and lunch buffet, and the halal-certified Sara Restaurant, serving up Thai, Indian and halal foods. The latter also provides halal room service.

Other facilities include a spa, gym and swimming pool while a free shuttle service provides an easy way to reach Bangkok’s many shopping centres.

Accommodation is varied at the Nouvo City. You can choose from the following:

  • Superior Classic
  • Deluxe Canal Room (overlooking the Banglamphu Canal)
  • Grand Deluxe
  • Diplomat
  • Diplomat Corner Suite
  • Nouvo Grand Suite

As well as Khao San Road, you’ll be near the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, Giant Swing and many other temples in this neighbourhood.

Public transport is limited to just the Chao Phraya Express Boat here, so be prepared to make use of the free shuttle and taxis to see the rest of the city.

Shangri-La Hotel

If you’re looking for oriental luxury, then look no further than the glamorous Shangri-La.

Located right on the Chao Phraya River, this 5*, internationally renowned establishment is another Bangkok hotel that welcomes and caters to Muslim guests.

Their in-house NEXT2 Cafe serves up both buffets and a la carte daily, and can provide pork-free and Arabic cuisine to Middle Eastern visitors. They have a variety of chicken, beef, lamb and seafood dishes made using halal-certified ingredients and have a Middle Eastern station during their nightly buffet, serving up popular dishes from the region.

Upon request, Arabic coffee and fruits can be provided and Shisha can also be arranged.

Nearby the Shangri-La is the Haroon Masjid mosque which is open for all prayers including formal jum’a. It’s one of the oldest in the city.
