Many tourists love Bangkok for its brilliant shopping opportunities.
Shopping malls are everywhere, and while shopaholics will love spending hours searching around for particular pieces, chances are your kids will not be having such a good time.
“But Mum, all these malls look the same!”
To be fair, they have a point…
It’s best to strike a balance when you’re in Bangkok – a few hours shopping, and then a few hours spending quality time with your children.
Here’s my guide on how to make the most of your time with your kids in Bangkok.
Cookery School
Most kids are at least a little curious when they spot their parents cooking at home, whipping up delicious tastes and smells from just a few ingredients.
Bangkok is well known for its wide choice of cookery schools, many of which welcome kids in the kitchen. They’ll learn how to safely cook traditional Thai food while learning about local vegetables and spices – all before tasting their handmade dishes! This is a great way to all spend time together as a family too.
There are plenty of cookery schools in Bangkok to choose from. The Bangkok Thai Cooking Academy is located in Asok if you fancy something close to the Sukhumvit neighbourhood.
Inspire them for the future
Finding out what they would like to do in the future will be one of the most important journeys of your kid’s life. At Kidzania, they can explore lots of different options while having a great time doing it!
This huge kids’ entertainment complex in Siam Paragon allows your child to do fun activities in zones like CSI, Digital Network Centre , Bank, Flight Simulator, Hospital and more. Who knows, maybe they’ll find their future career!
They’ll also have lots of fun while making friends with different kids from all around the world.
Exercise in the park
Now it’s time to change the environment and get back to nature. There are a handful of beautiful parks in Bangkok, and a few even have their own lakes complete with fishes, birds and other wildlife to spot.
Many of them have running and cycling tracks, some have regular Yoga and Tai Chi classes on offer, while if you head to Lumpini park (Saladaeng BTS station), you can even joy a pedalo on the lake. Exercise and fun combined!
Remember to keep an eye out for the harmless yet scary-looking monitor lizards in Lumpini…
Fun at the amusement park
If the family fancies a bigger, kid-focused day trip that still has plenty of fun for all the family, Siam Park City is the place to go.
Part UK-style theme park, part water park, Siam Park City is just outside the city in Khan Na Yao district. Adventurous kids will love the Vortex rollercoaster (one of the two largest looping coasters in the world) while younger tots will have fun spotting wildlife and ancient creatures in the animatronic attractions, Africa Adventure and Jurassic Adventure.
Explore their artistic side
Creative kids will love exploring their arty side in a painting workshop while you’re in Bangkok. Many studios offer classes and workshops exploring specific Asian art forms – like Batik, silk and even lotus painting.
Attic Studios have a huge variety of classes for both adults and kids while Himapan Gallery offers unique lotus painting workshops. Both are located in Phrom Phong on Sukhumvit Soi 31.
The kids will love letting their creative sides run wild and, if nothing else, you’ll have something arty to hang up on your fridge when you get back from your Bangkok trip!
