It’s December 1st.
Christmas Day a mere 24 sleeps away.
The season of goodwill – AKA the season of stuffing and drinking ourselves merry – is upon us.
We’re talking advent calendars, turkey sandwiches, hyperglycemia-inducing holiday lattes, Mariah Carey on repeat, and – of course – some good old fashioned christmas lights.
We at What’s On Sukhumvit are veritably pumped for Christmas 2015 and to help you get into the holiday spirit, have assembled a modest photographic collection of the decorations that we’ve spotted in recent days in various locations along the BTS line.
One of our favourite offerings has to be the above christmas tree at Asok BTS station. In true Terminal 21 style, it’s decorated with iconic global landmarks – there’s Big Ben, the Roman Coliseum, the Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower and what looks to be a Japanese mountain.
A Cosmopolitan Christmas.
Aiming for something a little more low-key is the Indulge Bar at Sukhumvit Suites:
Or, if you prefer something a little out of left field, you can’t go wrong with this Santa robot flanked by some inexplicably tiny reindeer at the S31 hotel on Soi 31…
One hotel taking things a little more seriously is The Landmark.
They’ve got trains, grottos, giant teddy bears and a variety of trees for your seasonal delectation.

However, if there’s anywhere on Sukhumvit doing Christmas 2015 in style, it has to be EMDistrict.
Playing host to the much anticipated Bangkok Illumination Festival, the area surrounding Emporium and EmQuartier will be lit up throughout the whole of December.
There’s twinkly trees, jolly signage, beer gardens and, of course, rampant Christmas tunes playing non-stop, on repeat.
The crowning glory of the EmDistrict’s festivities has to be the beautifully imposing Christmas tree stationed outside Emporium, however. Adorned with Tiffany-blue trinkets, silver baubles and thousands of twinkly lights, it serves only to reflect the luxury and wealth of the gift-giving inevitably going on behind the shop doors.
Santa baby, just slip a sable under the tree, for me…
Are you in the Christmas spirit yet?
