Tugging at the heartstrings and making the case for careful and considerate driving is a Facebook video published of a baby monkey attempting to revive his mother after she was hit by a car.
Filmed by Facebook user Panuwat Sasirat in Khao Yai National Park, the video shows a young monkey shaking his recently killed mother and trying to suckle on a dry teat in an attempt to revive her.
It’s particularly upsetting as we hear him scream and hug himself to her.
A later update by Panuwat confirms that the mother monkey was buried by park rangers and her young baby taken back to the safety among the other monkeys.
Alongside the video, Panuwat wrote, “This has saddened me and other foreign tourists. Please always drive slowly because the forest is their home,” according to Coconuts Bangkok.
If you’re prone to wet eyes while watching The Lion King, you probably won’t survive this without a tissue or three.
Live strong, little monkey.
