The warm welcome at Wonderwall is just one of the positives about this chic yet cozy little cafe. Service is attentive with plenty of attention to detail that shows love for the brew — as well as taking the time to create pretty Latte Art, they’ll whip up a custom blend for you if you ask.
The interior design is modern with simple lines, warm wood and soft slate grey walls. There’s a good sized outdoor terrace with comfy chairs, and laid back lounge music adds to the chilled out vibe.
Wi-Fi is free and fast, so you’ll see plenty of young Thais and expats here working or playing on laptops — Wonderwall almost feels like a little community.
Beans for local blends are sourced in the North of Thailand, and there are rarer, imported single origin beans from elsewhere in the world that make for a damn fine cup of coffee. Prices are around 60- 150 THB.
Wonderwall can be found at 28 Sukhumvit Soi 31 in the base of Avora 31 Residence on Phrom Chit Alley and is open every day from 07:30 – 19:00. They also have a branch recently opened on Sukhumvit Soi 26.

Hand ground coffee is the order of the day at Gallery Drip Coffee.
Cafe owner Pi is passionate about every stage of the coffee making process, from sourcing the beans, then roasting them, and lovingly hand grinding them. Arabica beans are sourced in Thailand’s northern provinces and from around the world, and the resulting brew is served up in glorious locally hand crafted ceramic cups.
Choose from drip coffees, hand ground single origin coffees and a selection of teas. Bring your own cup and receive a discount on single blend coffees.
The vibe at Gallery Drip Coffee is arty and hip, and much of the clientele includes local painters, illustrators, writers and photographers who display and sell their artworks in the cafe. The decor is modern bohemian, and the atmosphere is pleasant with cool tunes playing in the background.
Prices range from 75 – 155 THB and the coffee shop can be found on the first floor of the Bangkok Art & Culture Centre on Rama 1 Road opposite the MBK shopping mall. It’s open every day from 11:00 – 21:00.

This artisan coffee roasting café features local and international single origin beans, as well as house blends, all of which are roasted in-house in small batches to ensure they get to your cup as fresh as possible.
The atmosphere is intimate and quiet — all the better for savouring each deliciously rich blend. The granola, cakes, and almond butter toast here are pretty good too.
Situated in the buzzing Ekkamai area in a warm brick built building, Phil Café has a cozy, slightly rustic interior with white walls, warm wood and gently mellow industrial lighting.
If you’d like to take some of this fine artisanal coffee home with you, Phil Café 61 features a unique ‘coffee pool’ concept designed to save clients money. Simply select beans from two single origins that you’d like to blend – a date for roasting will then be set. Orders are then roasted together in large batches to give you a whopping 20% saving on each 1kg bag.
You’ll find Phil Café 61 situated at 21 Sukhumvit Soi 61. Opening hours are Monday to Friday 09:00 – 18:00 and 10:00 – 17:30 at weekends. Prices are reasonable, with more extravagant coffees like iced almond butter cappuccino costing around 150 THB.

Elegant, minimalist monochrome decor inspired by modern Japanese style makes this a super chic, yet pleasant and relaxed place to wind down and take some time to enjoy your coffee. The simplified nature of the interior allows maximum emphasis on the coffee bar where the magic takes place.

You’ll run into a lot of students from nearby Chulalongkorn University at April Store. This tiny little coffee shop is located on the front lawn of U-Center, a small hub of shops and restaurants popular with hipsters as well as students.
The mood here is laid back, the decor is modern and inviting, and there’s an outdoor seating area perfect for people watching.
The Aeropress coffee machine at April Store uses gentle air pressure which creates a smooth rich flavour with lower acidity and without bitterness. Single origin coffees from some of the world’s top roasters in Guatamala, Panama, Kenya, Colombia and other exotic locations are on offer here.
Coffee prices start at a mere 60 THB, and the whole menu selection is very affordable.
April store is open Monday to Friday 07:45 to 19:00, and 08:45 – 17:00 on Saturdays and Sundays. It’s easy to find at the U center, Chula soi 42, near Chulalongkorn University.

The combined coffee shop and art gallery at the Ink and Lion oozes industrial chic. As you might expect, the works of art from local and international artists, bare brick walls and concrete floors attract a creative crowd — this place is a hit with the hipster set in the trendy Ekkamai area.
The atmosphere is relaxed and fun, and the owner plays an superb selection of eclectic vintage vinyl to entertain. There’s even a chess set if you fancy settling in for a game.
Excellent quality coffees are sourced from local roasters who buy their beans worldwide, and many blends are freshly ground in house.
Espresso and drip coffee from single origin beans are on offer, as well as tasty homemade waffles and cakes from one of the finest local bakeries. Drinks cost around 90 THB.

Ceresia roasts an impressive array of their own beans, sometimes offering up to six single-origins at any one time. Choices change weekly, and the beans they choose are sourced both from Thai coffee producers and some of the best coffee farms around the world.
Inside it’s light and airy, and the warm brick walls and wooden furnishing add an inviting, homely touch and a tranquil atmosphere.
There’s no Wi-Fi here – the superb coffee is enough to attract the connoisseurs. Drip coffee costs 95 THB, and a scrumptious slice of cake or pastry is around 80 THB.

Another fabulous café in the vibrant Ekkamai area, Kaizen Coffee Co. has a sleek and fresh all white interior. The cool, clean lines are the perfect backdrop for this super stylish coffee shop serving up what is really the focus of this place — uber trendy nitrogen-brewed coffee.
Hand brewed drip coffee and super healthy shakes, plus breakfasts and brunches are also available. Kaizen Coffee Co. is a huge hit with the Thai in-crowd.
The menu is small but interesting. The signature blend is composed of beans from Ethiopia, Honduras and California. But it’s the nitrogen brewed beverages that sets this coffee shop apart — cold coffee on tap that’s infused with tiny nitrogen bubbles, which give it a foamy texture a bit like beer, plus a sweet flavour.
Coffee is reasonably priced for such a chic location, at only 100 baht. Food is also pretty affordable with a decent sandwich or burger priced at around 150 – 250 THB.
Kaizen Coffee Co. is situated at 582/5 Tai Ping Tower Between Sois Ekkamai 26-28, in a little plaza of other small shops, cafés and restaurants. It’s open every day from 08:00 to 18:00.
