Found towards the end of Soi 26 as you approach Rama IV, K Village is one of Bangkok’s most popular lifestyle malls.
Generally pretty quiet during the week, it comes alive at the weekends with huge, colourful markets, tantalising food trucks and live entertainment.
And of course, there’s an occasional miniature horse to be found trotting around the perimeter. No, really.
K-Village has somewhat of a reputation as nothing more than a yummy mummy yuppie hangout thanks to its array of kids’ shops and dog-friendly attitude.
Spot the Poms
While this may be true to some extent, the diverse turnout at the weekend market indicates that it’s a whole lot more than that – there’s a host of restaurants representing across the Asian spectrum, as well as a couple of popular little coffee shops, fashion pop-ups and high-end beauty salons.
Let’s take a look around.
Eating
Although not quite as impressive as the nearby Nihonmura Mall, K-Village has a wide selection of Japanese eateries, dishing out regional cuisine from sushi to ramen.
There’s the dark and mysterious Mekiki No Ginki, Sushi Oku, Coco Ichibanya, Nobu, Katsu King, Kagonoya, Ringer Hut, Ootoya and Shabu Sen.
You can get Korean at Daepark, Vietnamese at T House, and Chinese at King’s Palace and Hong Kong Fisherman.
Thai has a home at Watercress, Len Zen Boat Noodle and the brilliant Yum & Tum.
If you’d prefer some European noms, check out Wine Connection, Beer Connection or Capri.
For cafes and desserts, you can’t go wrong with Gloria Jeans, Tom n Toms, Au Bon Pain, Baskin Robbins, Scoma’s, Many Cups, Ho-Mu, Sri: Thai and Cha Lal La.
Fashion and Jewellery
Fashion finds an unlikely home in K-Village with a variety of slim, shophouse-style boutiques making a name for themselves here. One thing to note is that turnover is reasonably high – it’s not unusual to see a fully kitted-out store one weekend and an empty one the next.
The brands that you’ve heard of in K-Village is likely limited to GAP and Crocs.
Smaller fashion and shoe boutiques include Peeraya, Shoe Story, Signorina, Dress My Dress, Para Donne, The Blues Brothers Denim Store, Dress Me Up, Lovett, Glitz, Praise Tailor, Crazy Kloset, Viva Tokyo, Cali Casuals, Fabric At Play and C’est La Vie.
You can find jewellery at West One, Anything Else by CPJ, Bee Bijoux, Leng Kim Huad, Petchanan, Waltz and P Bells.
Kids
There’s no getting around the fact that babies and mothers are well catered to in K-Village.
Three Angels is the place to go for maternity and baby wear, while You & Say and Baby N Me stocks young fashion. Kid2Youth, meanwhile, is the first ‘ergonomic concept store’ for children in Thailand, apparently.
Toys can be found in Hello Neeya, Bricks 4 Kidz, and the Kuma Store while learning rules at the NANCY Language Club and KPN Music Academy.
Pampering
Both men and women can get their hair did at K-Village with Blue Harbour Barbers and The Lounge, respectively.
Specialist salons include Nailovi and Lashes while Recell 37 and Luxe Skinn are the places to go for cosmetic procedures. Japanese massage and AP Balance can be found at Karada.
Patch and Boots both sell cosmetics and fragrances too.
What else?
If you’ve got pets, check out the Warm Pet Hotel, Doggy Couture and Pet Mak.
You’ll find homeware and electronics in DM Home, Miami Coffee, iBeat, Zwilling, Eleph Lifestyle, True Value and Daiso.
Otherwise, it’s bikes at Bike Station, optometry at Top Charoen and KT Optic, print services at Miidear, medicine at The Lab Pharmacy, dry cleaning at iKlean and, of course, groceries at Villa Market.
Phew! That’s a lot of stuff in one lifestyle mall.
