Bangkok is not known as a particularly dog friendly city.
What with suffocating heat, pavements hot enough to scorch your pooch’s paws, streets so crowded and humid that even the humans have difficulty getting around, plus the fact that it’s mostly forbidden to take dogs to parks, it’s not an ideal for place for walkies.
But it doesn’t have to be a hard life for dogs in Bangkok — there are a few choice alternatives where you can keep your pup exercised and entertained.
Here are our top picks for pet friendly Bangkok…

Pet Friendly Bangkok
Barkyard BKK
The Barkyard BKK, the city’s premier community space totally dedicated to dogs, is an oasis for Bangkok’s furry residents.
It’s a lively place designed for pooches and their owners to spend quality time together having fun and exercising, or just chilling out and making new doggy (and human) friends.
It may be a little on the pricey side, but the range of services and activities on offer at The Barkyard make it worth investing a few baht.
Hounds can have a refreshing swim in the open air pool, let off some steam with their pals on the green lawn of ‘Central Bark’, have a makeover at the grooming parlour, or brush up on their skills with a training class.
There’s also a luxury dog hotel with air conditioned suites and bark-cam, letting you check in on your pooch anytime, wherever you are in the world.
For humans, The Barkyard features a shop, a cafe serving food and drinks (plus treats for dogs), and even a noodle stand at weekends.
Backyard BKK is based at 65 Sukhumvit Soi 26 and is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10am to 6pm.

UPDATE: The Barkyard have sadly announced that they will be closing down on 26 November 2017. They will be missed!
Unleashed BKK
Unleashed BKK is a brand new western-style doggy daycare and freestyle boarding facility just opened in Thonglor Pet City.
They pride themselves on being cage free: your dogs will play and sleep in a home-from-home layout, complete with sofas, dog beds and rugs. They also have a large outdoor play area and scheduled activities every day so your pup really gets to make the most of their time at Unleashed.
Activities include things like swimming, agility lessons, sensory play and movie time.
The aim of the game is to provide your dog with the opportunities to learn new skills and socialise with other dogs in a safe environment. The owners undertake an assessment on every dog that comes to the facility to ensure that the environment stays safe and friendly for all.
Unleashed BKK is located at Unit A1 Thonglor Pet City, 80/1 Phret Phra Ram Road, Bangkapi.
TLC Pet Clinic
At the TLC Pet Wellness Center, both you and your pup can relax in a convenient, safe and homely environment in one of Sukhumvit’s greenest neighborhoods off Soi 31.
The friendly TLC team is dedicated to providing the best, personalized care for your pet under the close supervision of the clinic’s fully qualified vet.
There’s a private pool where dogs can cool off, a spacious, grassy play area where they can run around with their puppy pals, a well-equipped and spacious grooming parlour, as well as a pet shop offering high quality products, and the pet clinic with the experienced vet to ensure your dog is in the best of health.
And while your pooch is being pampered, you can kick back and enjoy the homely ambience with a thirst-quenching beverage by the pool.
Plus, you may want to consider TLC if you need to put up your pup while you’re away. Treat him or her to a stay in a VIP suite — a large private room with a bed, and be happy in the knowledge that the staff will look after your pet like part of the family.
TLC Pet Clinic is open every day from 10am to 7:30pm and is located at 289 Soi Sukhumvit 31.

Boasting a total of 28 chic artisanal bars, restaurants, cafes and shops, clustered around the central communal areas, the concept of The Commons is to be a gathering ground for specialized, quality producers who take pride in what they do and do it with utmost care, and to promote wholesome living and a true sense of community by providing a place where visitors can spend quality time in the heart of the city while being a little closer to nature.

K Village
This chic, semi-outdoors community lifestyle mall is also dog-friendly, and it’s a popular place for people to bring their pups of all shapes and sizes where they can relax together on the terraces.
At K village you’ll find a good mix of artisanal outlets and big name brands, and the mall is particularly popular at weekends when there are regular markets.
Many of the 100 air-conditioned shops are happy to welcome pets, and there’s plenty to keep humans occupied too. K village also has an excellent choice of hip cafes and restaurants serving both Thai and international cuisine.
You’ll find K Village at Sukhumvit Soi 26. The best way to get there is to take a taxi or a tuk tuk from BTS Skytrain Phrom Phong.

Ozono Plaza
Dogs in Bangkok adore playing at the dog friendly parks of Ozono Plaza.
Pet-oriented shops, grooming parlours and spas surround the large communal green space in the heart of the plaza, where dogs can run and play for free providing they are well behaved, and most of the plaza’s cafes and restaurants are happy to have both you and your pup as customers.
But that’s not the only pet friendly positive to Ozono Plaza.
It also offers up a second VIP area — Petropolis Park — where dogs have even more space to run around in and where you can board your dog in luxury when you go away. You’ll need to buy a year’s membership to access the Petropolis.
Head down to 307 Sukhumvit Soi 39 between 11am and 11pm any day of the week to make the most of Ozono Plaza. Take the BTS skytrain to Phrom Phong Station then jump in a cab to Sukhumvit 39.
