One of Asok’s most buzzing streets is Sukhumvit Soi 19, which runs next door to the Terminal 21 shopping mall and parallel to the huge Asok Montri Road (or, Soi 21).
Thanks to its strategic location in the heart of Sukhumvit, this soi has a plethora of hotels and apartment buildings along it, as well as a handful of restaurants and spas to its name.
Let’s found out its best bits…
The Westin Grande
Hotel
At the top of Sukhumvit Soi 19 where it corners onto the main road is the Westin Grande, an international standard, modern high rise hotel that’s incredibly popular with Western tourists.
It’s a 5* and has the luxury facilities to match: a rooftop pool, spa, childcare services, executive club lounge, concierge and beauty salon.
El Gaucho Argentinian Steakhouse
Restaurant
El Gaucho is one of Bangkok’s favourite steakhouses and this Soi 19 branch is just one of the few establishments they’ve opened in the city.
They only use fresh and locally sourced products and complement the food with a wide selection of international wines.
Black Swan
Pub
The Black Swan, formerly on Soi 14, can now be found on Sukhumvit Soi 19 as one of Bangkok’s most popular British pubs.
They have live sports and happy hours, are family friendly, serve breakfast and traditional pub food throughout the day, and even have a Sunday roast available. Local and international beers are on tap, along with a variety of guest beers.
SILQ Bangkok
Hotel
A 4* boutique hotel found just past the back of Terminal 21 on Soi 19. There are just 8 floors at SilQ, with a maximum of 7 rooms per floor, so you can be reasonably assured of a quiet and relaxing stay.
Facilities include a garden and a lounge, and a restaurant serving up buffet breakfasts.
Beer Garden Sukhumvit 19
Bar
Another semi-outdoor bar similar to the one on Sukhumvit Soi 7, this beer garden serves up food and drink throughout the day and night, closing at 1am.
The food is a mixture of European and Thai cuisines and the kitchen closes at midnight. Plenty of fans keep the place pretty cool.
Paris Mikki
Patisserie
Paris Miki serves up authentic French pastries and cakes around half way down Sukhumvit Soi 19. They also take orders for delivery.
A must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth!
Tony’s Fitness
Gym
On a subsoi off Soi 19 (21/3) is the low-cost gym, Tony’s. You can get memberships ranging from just one day all the way up to one year (for just 4,900 baht!).
