Sukhumvit Soi 49

One of the major thoroughfares of Thonglor, Sukhumvit Soi 49 is a hugely long soi stretching from Sukhumvit down to Khlong Saen Saep. It’s home to countless establishments along both the main road and its many subsois. It’s intersected halfway down by Soi Phrom Si 1.

Restaurants abound here, as well as apartment buildings and a few hotels. One of the major stops along Soi 49 is Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital — a large and very popular international standard medical facility.

Let’s take a look at a few of the highlights down here…

Broccoli Revolution

Restaurant

Broccoli revolution

Broccoli Revolution is a vegan restaurant and juice bar on the corner of Sukhumvit Soi 49 and the main road. They have an ever-rotating menu and are incredibly popular with both vegans, vegetarians and even meat-eaters who are just interested in good food presented in an innovative way in a warehouse-style setting.

They also hold regular events and social gatherings.

The Racquet Club

Fitness Centre

Situated around halfway down Soi 49 at the intersection with Soi Phrom Si 1 is the popular and relatively exclusive Racquet Club which offers membership by the day, week, month, quarter and year.

It has a huge gym, fitness classes, yoga and spin studios, badminton, tennis, squash and football courts, a large swimming pool, snooker, pool and ping pong, and the Urban Playground rock climbing centre.

Rocket Coffeebar S49

The Hive is apparently Asia’s largest and most diverse coworking community, specialising in the creative entrepreneurial space.

They have 5 storeys, including one given over to a spa and one to a rooftop social space, full of hotdesks, private office space, a lounge and a variety of flexible memberships available.

La Bottega di Luca

La Bottega is another cracking restaurant on Soi 49, specialising in Italian cuisine. Head chef is Luca Appino, who worked at another great Bangkok Italian, Enoteca, before opening this in 2008.

The Pilatest

Some way down Soi 49 is The Pilatest, a pilates studio with a full schedule of weekly classes as well as private and duo training opportunities from their 6 in-house staff. They also provide teacher training for Pilates enthusiasts.
