Right next door to the Gateway Ekkamai shopping mall is Sukhumvit Soi 42, which stretches all the way down to the Rama IV highway.
Gateway Ekkamai is full of restaurants, coffee shops, normal retail shops and the crazy Snow Town. It’s also the host of the Bangkok Farmers’ Market at least once a month, which is always well attended by the yummy mummies and expats after their sunday sourdough loaf.
It’s a little quieter on this side of Sukhumvit but there are a few things of note down here, as well as a handful of condos and apartments.
Let’s take a look at the highlights.
Theera Healthy Bake Room
Cafe
This healthy bakery serves up delicious treats that are gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, nut-free and soy-free. They also offer next-day delivery for anyone not looking to make their way to this Sukhumvit Soi 42 store. They also have stores in Siam Paragon and Central Eastville.
As well as cakes, cookies and breads, they also sell breakfasts and main dishes too, which are inevitably of the Western and European bent.
Bangkok Mediplex
Medical Complex
Opposite Gateway Ekkamai is Bangkok Mediplex, which describes itself as a world-class medical mall. There are a number of clinics offering excellent international standard outpatient care, from doctors, consultants and surgeons.
Clinics include services for: skin and rejuvenation; ear, nose and throat; dental; sleep; podiatry; gastroenterology; plastic surgery and reconstruction; imaging centre; traditional Chinese medicine; and chiropractic care.
