Between Phloen Chit Centre and the JW Marriott Hotel is Sukhumvit Soi 2 – a quiet yet plentiful street that provides some relief from the sleazy hubbub of Soi 4.
It’s best known for its plethora of hotels and restaurants – let’s run through the best of them.
J W Marriott
Hotel
One of Sukhumvit’s most luxurious hotels, the JW Marriott is found on the corner of Sukhumvit Soi 2 as it connects to the main road. It has a spa, gym and pool.
As well as superior accommodation and facilities, it’s home to some superb restaurants and cafes, including the New York Steakhouse, Tsu & Nami, Man Ho and Bangkok Baking Company.
The Great Kabab Factory
Restaurant
A brilliant Indian restaurant serving up a daily menu of 7 different styles of kabab – from tandoor roasted to grilled on a stone –of which you can have unlimited helpings. Both meat and vegetarian options are available.
Also included in the daily menus are dhal, Biryani, Indian breads, seasonal vegetables and desserts.

The Atlanta Hotel
Hotel
The Atlanta is one of Bangkok’s oldest hotels, complete with a beautiful 1950s foyer and very cheap room rates, as well as a large swimming pool. It’s also home to a number of rescued cats.
Signs proclaiming ‘sex tourists not welcome’ hint at the staff’s attitude towards some guests, and there are some reports that Asian women have been turned away despite not being prostitutes. Check out their eye-opening caveat on their website. Children must also be kept on a tight leash.
Tsu & Nami
Restaurants
Tsu and Nami are actually two separate Japanese restaurants in the JW Marriott Hotel. Tsu serves up sushi while Nami is Teppanyaki style — where dishes are grilled on an iron griddle right in front of you.
Lohas Suites
Serviced Apartments
Lohas Suites are an expansion of Japanese hotel chain Super Hotel, offering large, modern and fully furnished suites in the heart of Sukhumvit.
They come equipped with a kitchen, washer/dryer and free WiFi and are suitable for both short and long term stays. There’s also a rooftop pool, sauna and gym.
Calvary Baptist Church
Church
Towards the end of Sukhumvit Soi 2 is the Baptist church which hosts an English language, international worship every Sunday at 10:45am.
There’s also international bible study at 9.30am every Sunday, a refugee ministry team and kids’ worship.
Bully’s Pub
Restaurant
On the Sukhumvit Road, next to Soi 2 and the JW Marriott, is Bully’s – a pub restaurant bar and grill that’s been popular since its opening in 2004.
It’s got weekly ladies’ nights, plenty of screens to watch sports, pool, darts, live bands and a menu spanning American, Tex/Mex and Thai food.
